learning to surf in coolum
Coolum is a great place to learn to surf, conveniently located on the Sunshine Coast about and hour and a half from Brisbane and a short 15 minute drive from the Sunshine Coast Airport. Both locals and international travellers love this place, boasting some of the warmest waters in Australia. Even in Winter the water temperature is around 20 degrees Celsius and in Summer the water is usually around a warm 28 degrees.
Coolum is well known for producing some of the best waves on the Sunshine Coast for all experience levels. Sheltered bays along the coast provide protection from the wind, ensuring there’s always a wave to ride.
Experienced riders will usually head to Point Perry and Point Awkwright in search of some long right-handers. Coolum’s Main beach is usually the best place to start for beginners.
Coolum’s Coast line is pretty gorgeous and there’s lots to check out in the area. After your first Surf, we’ll hook you up with ideas on what to do and see through your SVN Seas customer account.
Where are you off to after your surf ? Whether you’re on the Mornington Peninsular, Bondi, Broadbeach or Noosa, Surfers know how to find a great place to stay.
