learn to surf in Currumbin

Currumbin has got to be one of the best places in the country to learn to surf. The section close to the shore is a beginner’s delight offering some of the best learner conditions in the world (closely behind Waikiki)!

There is an intermediate section for surfers who can confidently paddle and stand up through the middle of the right hand point break. The experienced surfers will surf all the way from behind Elephant Rock, through the intermediate section, across the seaway and towards Palm Beach.  The rock ledge where they take off allows observers to get as close to the action as possible, with surfers taking off on waves that are breaking only meters away.

There’s also a great wave just across the channel called Lacey’s Lane that suits all levels. Currumbin Alley has many options whether you are just starting to learn to surf or looking to take things to the next level. There’s waves here for all experience levels.

Locally, there is plenty of parking and lots of other activities. Palm Beach, which is just a short 3 min drive has become a great spot for early breakfast, coffee and dinners. Check our recommendation on where to eat and drink at the bottom of the page!

Overseas visitors, create your account to get local’s knowledge on the best places to EAT, SLEEP, STAY and PLAY! Located under your surf photos at the bottom of the page.

Where are you off to after your surf ? Whether you’re on the Mornington Peninsular, Bondi, Broadbeach or Noosa, Surfers know how to find a great place to stay. Here you will find a mix of recommendation on places to stay that include beach shacks, bungalows, hi rises through to beach front mansions.
