Maybe It’s because of my strong memories of sharing a pot of hot chocolate with my siblings after spending the day outside playing in the snow, but for me there is nothing more comforting than sipping on a hot chocolate on a rainy afternoon. Even now living on the Gold Coast I have kept this Swedish tradition and it is now my favourite way to warm up after a cold winter surf. This nourishing hot chocolate is just as comforting as it is good for you, full of ingredients that will give your mood, energy and immune system a boost.
2 Cups coconut milk
2 Tablespoons raw cacao powder
1 Teaspoon maca powder
½ Tablespoon cold pressed honey
(more for those with a sweet tooth)
A Generous pinch of cinnamon
Pink Himalayan sea salt to taste
A cinnamon stick to serve
Warm the coconut milk in a pot on medium heat.
When warm ad the cacao, maca and cinnamon. Make sure you keep stirring the milk so it doesn’t burn.
When the chocolate powder has mixed in with the milk well add the honey and a tiny pinch of Himalayan sea salt.
Finish off with turning up the heat for a minute or so until the chocolate gets nice and hot.
Serve with a cinnamon stick for an extra vitamin boost.
